Ben forced David to concede that America is currently destabilizing Africa and that a fully developed Africa would benefit everyone on average, then used those admissions to argue that David's free-market optimism ignores how imperial power and short-term profit actually work. David made some sound economic points about consumer surplus and slavery, but he never answered why capitalists would choose long-term development over immediate extraction, and he could not name a single capitalist opposing imperialism. Ben's personal attacks were overheated, but on the core clash over exploitation and power he landed more substantive blows and won the key concessions.
