Trent Horn won because he kept the debate centered on what the unborn is and got Destiny to accept hard consequences: that a newborn who has never been conscious could be killed, that permanently unconscious human beings could be used as sex dolls, and that an infant born without key brain parts would have no right to treatment. Destiny made strong points about how Trent's view could lead to treating miscarriage and Plan B like homicide investigations, but his own view that morality is only a human construction left him unable to explain why his pro-choice position should be law. Trent answered most of Destiny's challenges and returned again and again to the idea that every human life has value from fertilization. Destiny's concessions and his trouble with some hypotheticals hurt him more than Trent's difficulties on punishment did.
